In the midst of near-constant media firestorms, gridlock, and endless grist for the mills of political comedians, it is all too easy to forget that there are many issues on which common ground exists, and where otherwise disparate groups already share similar if not the same priorities.

We seek to turn that common ground into concrete, achievable legislative action. This roundtable, along with future events organized by The Coalition for Action on Shared Policy Priorities, brings together business and political leaders and identifies priorities that the business community and our Congressional delegation already share and champion. The programs will focus on areas of high potential impact which may be most susceptible to feasible and realistic solutions.

We hope to create a broad-based coalition for promoting effective legislation on these shared priorities — a coalition that can make progress even in the context of a divergent political arena. Each issue we move forward makes our nation’s remaining policy challenges easier to face, and may perhaps help build bridges that can be of use in addressing other issues going forward.

Expected topics for the event include, but are not limited to:

– high skilled visas/immigration reform
– improved education
– support for clean technology
– bringing money and jobs back to the US and particularly the greater Bay Area
